L’ex chitarrista dei Rage Against The Machine ha annunciato la data di uscita del nuovo album solista.
Tom Morello nasce ad Harlem (New York) il 30 maggio del 1964 e all’età di 22 anni si laurea in scienze politiche con lode alla Harvard University. Durante tutta la carriera Morello non cela mai le proprio idee politiche schierandosi apertamente sia nella vita privata, sia nelle performance sui palchi di tutto il mondo. Questo elemento diventa uno dei punti cardine della sua musica e nel 1991, insieme all’amico Tim Commerford e Zach De La Rocha, fonda i Rage Against The Machine, gruppo fortemente impegnato e orientato “a sinistra” con il quale Morello si guadagna la fama mondiale.
Tra i vari progetti musicali a cui il chitarrista partecipa si possono citare gli Audioslave, band alternative metal attiva nei primi anni duemila e che vede alla voce Chris Cornell; The Nightwatchman, progetto folk solista; e gli Street Sweeper Social Club, super gruppo rap rock formato dal chitarrista e il cantante MC Boots Riley dei The Coup. Dal 2016, inoltre, Morello è impegnato con il super gruppo Prophets of Rage nel quale sono presenti componenti dei Rage Against The Machine, Cypress Hill e Public Enemy.
Nella giornata di ieri Morello ha annunciato l’uscita del nuovo album solista prevista per il 12 ottobre 2018, “The Atlas Underground”, nel quale saranno presenti grandi collaborazioni. Tra gli artisti annunciati ci sono, infatti, Mumford&Sons, Killer Mike, Steve Aoki, Knife Party, Portugal. The Man, Big Boi, Gary Clark Jr., Bassnectar e molti altri. Tra questi anche il cantante e leader dei Rise Against, Tim McIlrath, il quale presterà la voce per il brano di Tom Morello e Steve Aoki:
“As soon as I heard the song Tom Morello and Steve Aoki were working on, I jumped at the chance to put some lyrics and vocals to it. Each guy manages to shine and melt into the song effortlessly while still retaining our voices and vibe that makes us artists. I can’t wait for people to hear this!”
